Symposium

Symposium

This work presents an account of the discourses in praise of love delivered by Socrates and others at a banquet hosted by Agathon. The narrative is recounted by Apollodorus, who learned the details from Aristodemus, an attendant of Socrates. Through this framing device, the text preserves the famous philosophical discussions as they are passed down through a chain of informants.
