The Republic of Plato

This philosophical dialogue is narrated by Socrates to a small group the day after it takes place. Set at the Piraeus following a festival for the goddess, the conversation begins when Socrates and Glaucon are intercepted by Polemarchus and invited to stay for an evening celebration.
