On Heroes, Hero-Worship, and the Heroic in History

This work examines the role of great men in human affairs, presenting universal history as the history of its leaders and thinkers. It explores the concepts of heroes, hero-worship, and the heroic through six classes of heroes from widely distant countries and epochs. The text investigates how these figures shaped the world and seeks to illuminate the meaning of heroism in history.
