âI should say, three pound ten was plenty,â said Mr. Limbkins.
âTen shillings too much,â said the gentleman in the white waistcoat.
âCome!â said Gamfield; âsay four pound, genâlâmen. Say four pound, and youâve got rid of him for good and all. There!â
âThree pound ten,â repeated Mr. Limbkins, firmly.
âCome! Iâll split the difference, genâlâmen,â urged Gamfield. âThree pound fifteen.â
