are having a joke with me, I will have a joke with them.тАЭ

тАЬNow then, Roo, dear,тАЭ she said, as she took Piglet out of her pocket. тАЬBedtime.тАЭ

тАЬ Aha! тАЭ said Piglet, as well as he could after his Terrifying Journey. But it wasnтАЩt a very good тАЬ Aha! тАЭ and Kanga didnтАЩt seem to understand what it meant.

тАЬBath first,тАЭ said Kanga in a cheerful voice.

тАЬ Aha! тАЭ said Piglet again, looking round anxiously for the others. But the others werenтАЩt there. Rabbit was playing with Baby Roo in his own house, and feeling more fond of him every minute, and Pooh, who had decided to be a Kanga, was still at the sandy place on the top of the Forest, practising jumps.

тАЬI am not at all sure,тАЭ said Kanga in a thoughtful voice, тАЬthat it wouldnтАЩt be a good idea to have a cold bath this evening. Would you like that, Roo, dear?тАЭ

Piglet, who had never been really fond of baths, shuddered a long indignant shudder, and said in as brave a voice as he could:

тАЬKanga, I see that the time has come to spleak painly.тАЭ

тАЬFunny little Roo,тАЭ said Kanga, as she got the bath-water ready.

тАЬI am not Roo,тАЭ said Piglet loudly. тАЬI am Piglet!тАЭ

тАЬYes, dear, yes,тАЭ said Kanga soothingly. тАЬAnd imitating PigletтАЩs voice too! So clever of him,тАЭ she went on, as she took a large bar of yellow soap out of the cupboard. тАЬWhat will he be doing next?тАЭ

тАЬCanтАЩt you see ?тАЭ shouted Piglet. тАЬHavenтАЩt you got eyes ? Look at me!тАЭ

тАЬI am looking, Roo, dear,тАЭ said Kanga rather severely. тАЬAnd you know what I told you yesterday about making faces. If you go on making faces like PigletтАЩs, you will grow up to look like PigletтБатАФand then think how sorry you will be. Now then, into the bath, and donтАЩt let me have to speak to you about it again.тАЭ

Before he knew where he was, Piglet was in the bath, and Kanga was scrubbing him firmly with a large lathery flannel.
