Long ago, the Jews inhabited a definite territory and possessed a common speech; to-day they have no territory, and many of them do not understand Hebrew. The gypsica have their own language, but they do not inhabit any definite territory. The non-nomadic Tunguxes in Siberia have a territory, but they have forgotten their distinctive tongue.

We are speaking in the text of an army in the full sense of the term. If we are asked where the first beginnings of such a Red Army are to be found, we can point to the army of the Paris Commune as the precursor of our Red Army — to the army which the workers of Paris created in the year 1871.
