La fácil vendibilidad del capital corporativo ha disociado en gran medida el interés comercial de la directiva del de la corporación cuyos asuntos dirigen y cuya política comercial dictan, y les ha llevado a centrar sus esfuerzos en la discrepancia entre la capacidad de ganancias real y la supuesta, más que en la eficiencia permanente de la empresa. Su conexión con la empresa es esencialmente transitoria; puede rescindirse de forma rápida y silenciosa cuando su fortuna privada exija su ruptura.
