A dark, rather good-looking brunette, with much hair and very brilliant eyes, irritated him particularly, as, sitting on the windowsill and hardly taking any direct part in the conversation, she occasionally put in a few words confirming RomĂĄnâs arguments, or merely smiled contemptuously at MezhenĂ©tskyâs remarks.
âIs it possible to change all the country labourers into factory hands?â said MezhenĂ©tsky.
âWhy not?â retorted RomĂĄn. âIt is a general economic law.â
âHow do we know it to be general?â said MezhenĂ©tsky.
âRead Kautsky!â remarked the dark woman, with a contemptuous smile.
