El escozor me trajo a la memoria en un instante todos los pormenores de mi aventura nocturna, y me puse en pie de un salto con la sensación de que tal vez aún no estaba a salvo de mis perseguidores.
Pero, para mi asombro, cuando me puse a mirar a mi alrededor, no se veía ni casa ni jardín. Había estado tumbado en un rincón del seto junto al camino real, y un poco más abajo había un largo edificio que, al acercarme, resultó ser la misma estación a la que había llegado la noche anterior.
